Summary: Sourced from the Ripken Vineyard, this wine showcases rich and jammy ripe fruit while still retaining soft and supple tannins. The wine opens with a bouquet of fresh and ripe blackberries, which are accented with spice notes and mocha. The intense fruit provides the wine richness and complexity without the heaviness of excess alcohol and oak. Richard Ripken’s vineyard has been a harvest-time destination for Trotta Family winemakers for over 30 years and he has consistently rewarded us with an array of outstanding flavorful wine grapes and warm hospitality. 364 cases produced.|

•Wine on the Vine •Wine in the Making The grapes were hand-picked in the early morning hours of September 27, 2006 and gently destemmed to stainless steel fermenters. The must cold soaked for three days before inoculation with a prepared French isolate yeast strain and received gentle pump-overs throughout fermentation. The wine was pressed at dryness, and racked clean to a combination of French and American oak barrels (35% new oak). After 9 months of aging the wine was blended and prepared for bottling. •Wine in the Bottle This Petite Sirah opens up with a buoquet of fresh and ripe blackberries and showcases rich and jammy ripe fruit while still retaining soft and supple tannins. The ripe berries are accented in the glass with hints of mocha and toasty oak. The intense and lush texture provide the wine richness and complexity without the heaviness of excess alcohol and oak. The balanced structure, ripe fruit and polished tannins make this wine immediately approachable. Those able to wait can expect the wine to benefit from up to 8 years of cellar aging from the vintage date. •Wine on the Bottle! The label artwork was painted with Trotta Family homemade wines by artist Manuel Barrios (the artwork features Petite Sirah vines and a Sangiovese sky!). The label art reflects the tradition and spirit behind Teresina wines, which draw upon the longstanding Trotta Family tradition of handcrafting wines to share at the gatherings of friends and family. |
